2007 S 550 Display Not Working & will not shift while in drive mode

Problem 1 is usually the transmission conductor plate. Common issue on these early 221s with the 722.9 transmission. Problem 2 is likely a bad COMAND unit. You can find those on eBay or other sites for around $400+ but you have to have them coded to your car and updated (preferably.) Call around for some local independents to work on the car. But, make sure they have the Mercedes STAR computer to code it, a normal joe blow’s quick lube won’t be able to do anything about the computer programming. Which, in the case of the 221, controls about everything. Good luck, you have an awesome car.
