what to do w ugly parallelogram exhaust tips

Hi all.

I have a 2011 s550 w AMG package exterior. What are you guy doing about the ugly AMG package parallelogram exhaust tips. I dont want to change out the muffler if possible. The exhaust just look horrendous.

I see your point. Those are not very satisfying I did a lot of research. it gets rather confusing.
2010-13 W221 have bumper mounted exhaust tips. The muffler dont actually touch the tips. I guess this is the new exhaust tips fashion since most newer mercedes goes this same route.
2010+ s550 AMG sport package have the bumper mounted 8.5 inch parallelogram tips. Other S550 without sport package have 7.5 inch parallelogram tips
Dont think about mounting newer AMG bumper mounted tips they are bigger than the 9.5 inch wide opening.
W204 c63 or w212 e63 tips are 10.25 in wide
W205 c63 tips are 11.5 in wide.

Pretty much only option to go is to get a new S63 rear diffuser and either do a weld on tip or get custom muffler.

Prices. as of 3/15/2019
Cheapest on ebay or amazon.
Tips
W221 bumper mounted "Quad" tips either 7.5 in or 8.5 in wide are about $80 in ebay
(W204 W212) (W205) AMG tips are about $250
W221 S63 or S65 weld on tips are about $250

Diffuser W221 sport bumper
Plastic $150
Carbon $350

Options.
Leave bumper untouch
Leave bumper untouch plus Sport muffler ( Sport sound and maybe better flowing exhaust but invisible)
S63/S65 Diffuser + Weld on tips (No different than stock but Looks better)
S63/S65 Diffuser + Custom mufflers. (You can go as loud or crazy as you want)

I had this thought like you and decided to leave it alone. You def dont want the car to look cheesy.

its a "Exhaust Surround" it doesnt get that hot. Muffler doesnt actually touch the exhaust tips. After a drive, I can touch the exhaust tips without burning my fingers.. its not burning hot.

I would get the 2010+ diffuser with the square piece on the center and buy the quad square tips. I am not sure why the quad square tips are not liked by some people in here. That is the way everyone is going and looks even better in person.

It is the 1st mod I did in the car when I got it.

The bumper tips are a cheap way for Mercedes to save money and not add proper exhaust tips like the pre-face lift sport package versions. It looks like a buick or a cadillac xts.

I would avoid getting the circle quad tips only because those are an option from the pre-facelift 06-09 versions.
