2008 S550 Clock Reset
Hey guys I've got the dreaded an Infamous S550 clock reset problem going on. I can go into the command and reset the clock as well as choose summer daylight savings as well as choose the correct time zone and the digital image display of the clock shows the new correct time but the actual analog clock on the console will not reset. I've Googled and searched ad nauseam and read that sometimes it takes a day or so to reacquire satellites blah blah blah But it's been 4 days now and it still won't reset. Anty suggestions would be very helpful. Again this is a 2008 S550. Thanks in advance. Ps.... everything in this car and I mean everything functions flawlessly meaning there are no blown fuses or any other irregularities going on.

It's not that it won't reacquire the satellites, it's that once it does there's a problem with how the satellite data is interpreted, which resets the time to something useless.
So the trick is to reset the clock before it has a chance to sync. You can do this by letting the car rest overnight and then first thing in the morning put the car into key position 1 (one press of the start/stop button with your foot off the brake). Once in position one, you can go in and change the time and the analog clock will adjust. I just did this two weeks ago after I changed my starter, works like a charm. Apparently there's no fix for the date, and honestly I really don't care that much, as long as the clock is right.

Awesome. I will try that trick tomorrow morning. I to do not care about the date beimg incorrect just the time. That was my first thought that maybe the clock is just broken but it actually keeps perfect time to the minute it's just the hour is off. It has never lost time or never lagged.. I did think of another idea maybe remove the fuse that corresponds with that clock and wait for the correct time to roll around and then reinstall the fuse!

Owners manual is an underrated book. It clearly states ....
To adjust time & date make sure the GPS is OFF. Switch off before stopping the engine. Key out,
Key in - turn to pos 1 - (GPS will not start in this pos) .... Adjust time/date/timezone and remove key again. Next time you fire up all is ok --- works for me every time.

This has to be the oddest bug with the car I've run across. Used to be able change it whenever (funny thing is the stupid clock rotating on the dash mightily impressed them). Stopped working, was an hour behind and no matter what I did couldn't fix it. Until I ran out, did the key on routine and quickly change the time and then it worked. Who knows.

Well honestly my 2001 E430 ALWAYS had the correct time. After reconnecting the battery it was <5 mins and the correct time would appear on the instrument cluster. So for this to be a thing, no less a documented (owner's manual) thing, is really just dumb.

2007 - 2011 S550 CLOCK RESET
Guys, here the easiest way to reset the time on 2007-2011 S550, open the fuse box (drivers side under the hood) 4 allen screws. Remove fuse's 39 and 25 at 11:55pm, replace them at 12:00 am....See if the clock has reset to 12:00 am, if so your done. If not, press the ignition button to position one and the clock will automatically go to 12:00 am. This doesn't fix the date, but who cares....

So, I went to my local dealership, requesting a fix, they told me that the dashboard clock was defective and I couldn't buy a replacement. This forum saved me from wanting to sell my car. I searched this forum to see what other S550 owners were doing to fix this issue, and came across this solution and it worked like a charm. Thank you MB World Forum, Thank you.

Great. Thanks. Sure you are right. Bit new to all this and nervous of making a mistake! Need to ensure I have correct kit to burn the disk in the format required and then load it correctly. I have had my car for nearly all of its life and it is beautiful. Everything works and all immaculate. Don’t get the chance to use it much, but don’t want to part. Will check it out to see if I feel confident to upgrade the software. As you say, that is the best way to proceed. In the meantime, the clock is showing the correct time! Thanks again.

you shouldn't go wrong - if you make a good disc it will load - if its wrong the car will not bother to do anything and will tell you - they aren't completely stupid at the factor (just mostly)

Separate item. Anyone had squeaky front suspension noise when cold which wears off? Stops if you raise air suspension even if cold.
thanks. Best.
