Shock Absorber Squeak
W221 s500 with airmatic
I have been recently experiencing nasty squeaky noises from one suspension side.
Clearly identified from inside the air strut structure after fixing and tightening everything else - and switching the struts from left to right.
The ride is a bit bumpier on the noisy side but no air issues whatsoever. Car keeps level and no fault codes or any failing symptoms. Just nasty constant squeaks.
Any advice?
Thanks!

Checked all the control arms and swapped struts from left to right. Noise moved along. So it must be the shock absorber. Any possibility to repair it or lubricate it internally?

yes I bought needle syringe and noise has been on the bottom of the strut, looks like a ball joint with rubber around, so I put some oil (about 10-20ml each side) through the rubber using needle syringe and this horrible and irritating noise finally completely gone after couple of days driving through speed bumps etc. I also injected some oil in other components (ball joints etc) when I possibly think of for piece of mind. Hopefully that helps

Well, I finally did a deep dive into my suspension noise.
I had a series of creak creaking noises. No clunking. No squeaking. More of a dry, creaking noise.
Generally, I had to be rolling, turning, and with a little bouncing.
I couldn't really tell which side it was, nor whether top/bottom.
I couldn't get the noise while the car was standing still and nor by turning the steering or bouncing the fender.
I became convinced that it had to be the sway bar or links.
I removed them, drove the car, and the creaking was still there.
Then I was convinced it was the passenger Upper Control Arm (UCA).
I removed it, and decided that probably wasn't it.
I have a grease gun and needle similar to the oil needle from W221CDI.
I pierced the UCA boot and pumped it full.
The needle is very small, and you have to pump it very, very slow.
I then greased all the other ball joint boots. (except the sway bar links)
Each side has 5 ball joint links; UBJ, 2x LBJ, Tie rod, lower shock.
Then, I put the whole suspension back together...
....and it still creaked.
That was a week ago.
Today, the creaking is 99% gone. Just like W221CDI said; apparently the grease/oil had to work its way around the ball in the dry ball joint.
The noise difference/improvement is quite dramatic.
