2009 S550 with ABS & ESP error code

i went to start my car this morning and recieved an error message that ive never seen before. Its causing the steering wheel to become like theres no power steering and the brakes are hard as if theres no power braking. Ive seen that several owners have experienced the same error messages and ive located a video on how to access the "hidden" menu by pressing 2 buttons on the steering wheel but i cant manage to access it myself. Is there anyone that can assiste me with this/?? i really need help. thank you in advance!

You need to perform a scan of the vehicle. Hidden menu will not give you any diagnostic codes.

Welcome to my world.

From what I have read, this could be something as simple (and relatively cheap) as a wheel speed or steering angle sensor. It could also be a bad ABS/ESP control unit. You won't know until the car gets some diagnostic attention. I suppose it's not unheard of for this to be a one-time random occurrence that will go away on its own and not come back... but I'd put about as much faith in a lottery ticket. I could be completely wrong and just judging based on my own experience and what I've read here and on other M-B forums.

In my case (and maybe yours as well) I don't think it's a speed or angle sensor, because it happens before the car even moves. If you know how to use an OBD scanner to find and troubleshoot diagnostic codes, they're relatively inexpensive to buy. There's a learning curve, if you don't already know how these things work.
