Exclamation Fuel Gauge Indicator Periodically Drops to Empty

Greetings all,

Every few months or so the digital fuel indicator in my 2012 S550 drops to empty regardless of the amount of fuel in the tank. Sometimes it happen when I first start the car, other times at some point when I'm driving I glance over and suddenly it shows no fuel.

I've mentioned this two or three times at the dealership and the braintrust the service center can find not explanation, as I can't replicate it.

Anyone else experience this or have suggestions as to what might be causing it?

Thanks,
MB

Request they check fuel level sensors: left (fuel filter) part # 2215401517, right (fuel pump) 2215420017 and confirm fuel system control module software is current. Most likely they checked but two service campaigns released for FSCM update if outstanding update is free: 2013110002 & 2015120001. Never hurts to ask.
