I probably already know the answer to this, but I have to ask anyway.

For someone who is not going to get deep into changing programming in their cars, how much benefit is there in having a Star Diagnosis system versus a Mercedes specific unit from iCarsoft?

2007 S600
The iCarsoft scan tool does not do any programming or testing whatsoever. It is ONLY good for reading and resetting codes.

Xentry passthru
If your vehicle is 2006 and newer... you can also use Xentry passthru with a J2534 device. For a diy you can use something like Tactrix. It’s about $190. PM me if interested.
