"Limp home mode" when low on gas??
2010 S350CDI 4MATIC. Ecu tuned/optimized.
Suddenly the car looses power, no CEL LIGHT, no smoke, no engineshiver, just powerless. Turn engine off and it goes away, but comes back. Only thing I think correlates is that it comes when I'm low on gas. Any tips? We're on a roadtrip with the car through Europe, so I'm afraid it will stop all together...

I have not encountered this in a loooong time, however that is the classic symptom of debris in the bottom of your fuel tank. When the fuel level gets low the concentration of debris becomes more dense, eventually clogging the intake screen for the fuel pickup. When you shut off the engine, the fuel suction stops and allows the debris to fall back to the bottom. Filling the tank decreases the debris concentration as it stirs up the junk in the tank.
I doubt you have a fuel jelling problem unless you're traveling in the higher elevations where it is freezing.
