ABC tandem pump noise
Hi people I have a 08 S600 with 46k on it and I was wondering if the abc pumps are known for being noisy I replaced the alternator 2 idler pulleys and the sep belt I checked the tensioner and a/c clutch all are smooth I feel the engine should be quieter any feed back out there ? Thank You

When the double pump ( ABC + Power steering ) fails they tend to alarm you initial with a whine when you start the car, cold. Later it will be more pronounced and you will get white even later red warnings.
Sometimes you can see the disc in front of the pump, wobble. That is not good and the first sign the pump is about to fail.
What you don't want, is the pump to fail, and release debris into the hydraulic circuit, since the filter is sitting in the return line. ABC is a very delicate, sensible system, need TLC on a regular basis.
Has the system ever had a flush ?
A test is to take off the belt, and let the engine run for 30 sec. That will tell you if the noise comes from the engine or the attached parts. 30s will not damage the engine.

If I needed a new pump, I think I'd go this route. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Servo-Pump-...1/263259586468
Might take a while longer, but they really seem to know their stuff. And price is great
