Parking brake Saga

I need your help in 5 month drama. So in May I was in my car on my driveway and I pressed the parking brake button on the dashboard. The parking brake engaged and then all of sudden the park dreadful light came on the cluster and when I tried to press the parking brake light nothing happened. I didn’t hear any noise of the parking brake engaging again. I brought the car to my mechanic and he said that the motor (actuator) has burned out. He said that it would be a cheaper option just to replace the motor (actuator) Well I got the motor from eBay and the mechanic installed it. Needless the mechanic tested the motor and it worked out of the car. He powered it with 12 volts. He installed the controller unit back into the car and the Star computer doesn’t even see that the controller is installed. He then mentions that there is a computer board inside the controller and that maybe that got burnt out with the motor. As I stated the Star computer doesn’t even see it installed as the mechanic said that it would show a part # if it was recognized. The mechanic said that the Star computer is not communicating with the parking brake controller. Can you give your opinion on this ? So to add to my parking brake saga I went into my car today and decided to press the parking brake button on my dashboard and to my surprise you can hear the motor engage both when I press it or release it you can hear the motor. Yet the "park" light is still on the cluster.. I have not connected the Star computer to the car but I am sure that the car doesn't recognize that the car has the parking brake controller is connected. Also the parking brake button on the dashboard doesn't light up at all when pressed or leased. I know that the button is suppose to light up red.. Its not.
