2009 550S 4 matic....while replacing the windshield washer pump i cracked a part that has the number 2214700216 ...see pictures...on it and when I go to look up the part online i get...damper cage (no longer available) on one site and another says MB multiple part numbers. it is located right next to the windshield washer fluid reservoir. my dealer is closed so can't ask them. it i a black hollow cylinder about the diameter of a quarter and about 4 inches long. can someone tell me what it is called, can I drive while it is broken, and can i replace it since it looks like the hoses connected to it are crimped on?......Thanks

If as the above poster says it's part of the fuel vapor recovery you can probably drive but may get a fault light or smell fuel fumes. Sounds easy to fix so head to dealer and buy one before the check engine comes on that you have to get cleared.

 

I believe current part # is 2214700516 (dashpot/damper cage), confirm with dealer.
