Backup Camera Fail

My backup camera is glitching and goes black from time to time. Dealer wants $1,500 for a new one. What are my other options?

I had my Command replaced about 2 years ago when it first started happening and that turned out not to be the issue. My warranty doesn't cover the camera for some reason. I'm going to call today and see if there's anything they can do. How much do you want?

If it's glitching and intermittently going black, chances are it's not a bad camera but a bad connector. I've had the same thing happen on my truck from time to time, and once or twice on the Mercedes. Almost always when there was moisture present from rain, washing, heavy dew, etc. The cameras are fine, it's moisture occasionally getting into the wiring or on the board. A little disassembly, cleaning, and sealing is on my to-do list.

I had exactly similar symptoms as above in post #14, got the broken cable fixed and the back up camera is working again
