S550 4matic questions... Reliability?
So... They'll both be moving on in one way or another, and I'm in search of a replacement.
I love the passenger space of the R class, but my husband will murder me if I attempt to get another one. 😔
So, with 3 kids in tow, the S class seems to fit the bill as far as a sedan goes, as I couldn't have been more in love with my 05 S600.
I travel a lot to NYC, so a sedan is a must (for parking reasons, serious up charges on SUV's), but with long commute driving, the comfort of the S is second to none. 4matic is necessary with these awful winters.
So... What's the good, the bad and the ugly on the 550 4matics? I have read to avoid the 07's, and seeing that people are recommending again the 2010+ as there's steering column issues and transmission issues or something? Are there certain issues to be wary of on certain year ranges? Anything else I should look out for?
I've done some basic searching on these, so I apologize for the (I'm sure) redundent questions.
Thank you,
Em

The S Class is solid. Try to find one with the back seat package so the kids will be comfortable.
