Rookie question

I have been adding coolant for the last two days and the coolant light went on again today totalling about one gallon. Not sure where it is going but is it possible it's going into the windshield reservoir? It was overflowing.

Wow, what a night of rest does the brain! Found a few other posts here on MBworld that I didn't see yesterday. Has anyone done the bypass? How long did you run it without any problems? I live in a cold climate and would like the heated feature, does anyone know of a DIY fix? Does the heating element have a thermostat inside?

Are you adding coolant or antifreeze into the windshield reservoir? Your using the term coolant is confusing. What coolant light is coming on? Windshield washer fluid or coolant level low light?

Adding antifreeze into overflow container and nothing into the wiper fluid. The only light is low coolant.

That picture you posted is of the windshield wiper fluid container, not the coolant over flow tank btw

I did the bypass on my E430 because I live in the desert and don't need any help boiling my washer fluid! I used a stainless steel fitting to join the two hoses and it was still holding tight after 3 years when it was totaled.

The heating element is just the coolant passing through the aluminum pipe, no thermostat specifically for the washer fluid. The fluid line however has both an internal heater for the length of the line as well as conductors for the heated washer nozzles. If I lived in the North, I would just fix what's broken, obviously personal preference --- up to you.

Living in the North I looked forward to the day I could hit the wipers and spray 140 degree wiper fluid on the frost, snow, or feet of ice. So it looks like I will be replacing it. FCP did not have it in stock and I was lucky I found an old thread for a similar issue and ecstuning has one.

I realize the pictures were of the windshield wiper fluid container and the antifreeze that was inside the car was blue not green as was suggested by the local Indy shop near me. So has anyone replaced one of these in the past?
