Trickle Charging Consumer Battery - '07 S550

Winter storage time...
Car will be sitting for 5 months.
I am being challenged attempting to remove/locate (seeing) the consumer battery.
What I need to do is trickle (Battery Tender) charge the battery until May.
Please advise me on the correct thing to do...
Remove battery (I need instructions to uncover its location)
Or
Connect to a cable (under the hood, near the starter battery?)

I plan on covering the car but if I need to keep ventilation around the car I will just wash it (again) in the Spring.

Thank you!

My uneducated, un-researched opinion which may well be wrong:

Lots of AGM batteries have been killed by the use of an inappropriate trickle charger or battery tender. I'd use a smart charger suitable for AGM batteries, like this one: https://no.co/g3500. It's what we use for the Odyssey AGM battery in the airplane.

Get a CTEK, they make the one that Mercedes sells for this purpose.

I have stored my CL and SL using a CTEK connected to the main battery (using the connectors under the hood for the CL and direct to the battery in the trunk for the SL) never had a problem. Your car is similar to my CL so this us what you can use.

I recommend these as well, or follow the procedure to turn off all electrical consumers:

https://resources.mbdx.us/files/pdf/..._functions.pdf

Yes, the instructions do say to leave the key in the EIS, but only you know if the vehicle would be stored in a secure location. Once this is done, you can safely disconnect the ground wire in the trunk that is easily accessible without fireworks due to the draw of the control modules still awake, or possibly leave it connected, without any current draw from the system from devices such as the Alarm, etc.

Connect the charger to the negative post to the Starter battery under the hood, and the positive to the tall bolt that is revealed when the cover is removed from the electrical connection points to the left (looking at the vehicle from the front) of the starter battery. There is one taller than the rest - this connects to the consumer battery in the rear. The should be outlined in the manual.
