CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME

HELP HELP HELP i am a 2012 S550OWNER with 67421 miles mercedes benz owner took this car to the shop because my Check engine light came on so i panicked and took it to the dealer and this was the diagnosis.
CAN ANYONE ADVISE AS TO I REALLY DONT WANT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BEACAUSE THERE GOING TO JUCE ME.... THIS WAS THE TECHNICIANS REPORT. IM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ,CAUSE I DONT WANT DAMAGE THE CAR .
IM IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INLAND EMPIRE. ANY RECCOMENDATIONS WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL

Fuel Pressure Regulator: INTERNAL
FAULT IN FUEL QUANTITY CONTROL
VALVE. THERE MAY BE OIL
CONTAMINATION IN THE VALVE. IF
OIL CONTAMINATION THEN
FURTHER REPAIRS WILL BE NEEDED.
Item Description
The vehicles fuel pressure regulator attaches to the
end of the fuel rail and is designed to maintain and
regulate the amount of fuel flowing to the engine.
Reason
A bad fuel pressure regulator will cause the vehicles
engine to run rough and often stumble or sputter.
Many times the engine will not start after ignition or
the engine may start, but stalls shortly after.
Wiring Harness: OIL
CONTAMINATION IN THE ENGINE
WIRING HARNESS. RECOMMEND TO
REPLACE HARNESS AND ALL
COMPONENTS WITH OIL
CONTAMINATION

I wouldn't trust a mercedes dealership with any car. Best to find a foreign car specialist near you, they are out there, look at their Google reviews, I have one near me that does everything a Benz dealer would do for less money, they use genuine Mercedes Benz parts, and most benz repairs offer two year warranty while this shop I go to guarantees every repair for three years. Last time I took my very pristine car to a Benz dealer they charged me $450 for an inspection where they checked off as GOOD, things that I knew were not working and they even stole the floor mats out of my car which were clean, perfect, and the proper ones for the car. They replaced them with wrong color floor mats that were dirty and had crease where the drivers heels go from being in a car for years with the seat pushed forward, those mats were so crummy I would have littered with them on the hiway before keeping that junk in my car. I had to complain up a storm and finally force the dealership to order me a brand new set of floor mats (They are expensive) and I made their representative put them in my car for me while I stood and watched. They offered to completely re-do the inspection, I said No Thanks. The only reason I would go to a Mercedes Benz dealer again would be to look at all the beautiful new cars and have free coffee. I wouldn't trust a word they say, either. Some dealerships may be honest, but I won't take a chance. Your diagnosis may be correct, may be not. I'll bet the repairs they recommend are going to cost a pretty penny! I definitely would look for a shop with the highest ethics and experience if I were you. They do exist.

Look up "check engine light" on Google or YouTube. There are several reasons for CEL including gas cap and O2 sensors (on either side of the catalytic converters) among others. All are related to emissions, though. Fuel vapors or tailpipe emissions. Thus you are not "hurting" your car. Maybe the environment...but not a reason to panic. Get the codes read, and it will tell you which emissions control system is causing the light.
