S400 Hybrid Battery HELP!!!
Hi does anyone have a S400 Hybrid on this thread. I have a 2010 S400 Hybrid -I was driving the car and it was fine. Car is always serviced on time. As I was driving the light comes on with a Battery and MALFUNCTION light. I immediately drove home-the car was drivable. But parked it and drove it into the dealership on Monday. The car turns on and everything comes on including radio. However the car does not turn over and START. I took it to the dealership and they said that the converter went out and I need a new hybrid battery for $30K. (Really??) The car has 85K miles. When I take it for service -they blame everything on my battery. So I am taking it somewhere else tomorrow. Do you all have advice or experienced this before. The car does NOT start- so although it turns on -it will not turn on to actually start. Please help

Attached all service campaigns & bulletins applicable to s400 hybrid I’m aware of. Should be no outstanding service campaigns (no cost even out of warranty) have them check vehicle master inquiry (VMI). Bulletins normally not covered out of warranty however, since vehicle was maintained through dealership request MB goodwill to complete all of the following. No guarantee but since vehicle was regularly serviced by MB dealer (and you will continue to do so) MB should oblige.
- 054690 software should be current
- 054713 malfunctioning 150A fuse
- 049241 software should be current
- 049295 software should be current
- 053675 software should be current

Thank You so much, do you recommend me sending these articles to my service guy. I absolutely love my car. it runs amazing. and Lowe in miles. When I would take it in before-they would always blame my hybrid battery. then a service tech.-said I need to take it home overnight and see if it will start. So the second day it DID NOT START and he was finally able to fix the problem and it was not the hybrid battery. However, he is no longer working at MB-Buckhead. So they were not really experienced and he told me that. So I am so nervous as to who works on my car there. You response is so appreciated. I am going to start with what you sent. I will post my results. You gave me HOPE!!

The service guys at the MB-Buckhead dealership said that they sent the forms (that you posted in your post) to MB and they said that their are no open claims. The warranty on the battery ended Dec. 2019 (10Yrs) They said that what I sent over (which is what you sent me) has nothing to do with the battery according to MB headquarters. They also said that the reader is saying that the battery is the problem and they can do a diagnosis and break the car down for $495 to see what it is exactly. He said the reader can be off- Should I let them do it. I feel like I have no options or should I tow it somewhere else for them to look at it. I have had the car for 4 years-and only 80K miles -absolutely no problems-car drives great and I have had all service work done at this location. They said that if they take it apart at least they can see what is wrong with it., The car comes on an turns on-lights and radio, but it will not turn over to start. They say I need a new hybrid battery for $35k-They have got to be out of their mind. Can you help with advice. Thank you
