Airmatic issue

After suspension “malfunction” message comes up on dash the pump stopped working. I’ve checked fuses first and I found burned 40A fuse.

(fuse 56 located under the bonnet) After fuse has been changed pump started working again. The only problem is that 3 struts rising but one (rear right) only rises to normal ride level (it’s actually a bit lower than other struts but don’t sink, no leaks etc and car is still drivable) and also won’t rise to high position... and “malfunction” message comes back on dash again..
Anyone fixed similar problem? Before I had this issue with burned fuse all 4 struts was rising as normal.

You can "attempt" strut solenoid/system reset, MBUSA info pull f46, f56, and relay B simultaneously for several minutes.

I’ll try reset tomorrow. I also bought new relay B but compressor started to work as normal and gave it up to change, but tomorrow I’ll change it at same with reset. appreciate that mate. I’ll let you know if that helps or not. I’ll keep my Fingers crossed 🤞

Reset did not help... any ideas? Could be solenoid valve block faulty or something else? Anyone could help me with STAR diagnostics near Northampton UK?

konigstiger had a link to a known issue with a damaged air pipe to the right rear from the factory, that fuse popping is normal when the air pump works too hard (due to wear or running for too long)
a score along the length allows air to leak, check with bubble bath at valve block for Right Rear feed

there's a diagnostic test in STAR 10 bar in 30 seconds, I expect yours won't make 6 bar in 10 mins - prob worn out due to manu fault from DOB

what miles? struts die

ok thanks. I’ll check valve block for any bubble leak but if it does leak should I replace whole air line? Looks like strut hold the air as not going any lower even after few days. What next steps should I do? Car has only 61000 miles

Attached bulletins address blown fuse possible cause and line to right rear however, given circumstances of malfunction and whether or not VIN range applies my thought is internal solenoid/valve to strut. Good call to pull codes using MB diagnostics.

According to attached bulletins looks like air line may be faulty and it’s not required to replace any other components like strut, pump or valve so I’ll check the air line first and see how it goes. Thanks

I forgot to add that rear right strut is going up when I set to high position but not as much like others. I heard that it’s possible to set the height level in airmatic using STAR, it’s true or not ? Maybe worth to try that first if possible ?

This is why I suggested (per your circumstances) malfunctioning internal strut solenoid/valve and good call to pull codes using MB diagnostics. Fault codes will definitively diagnose malfunction no codes, calibrate system/level. Your call, I leave it at that.

Update; I’ve bought Icarsoft and done diagnostics. Shows “pressure line system leaks 5288”. Sprayed all pressure lines with gas leak detector comes out from valve block and lines going to struts and couldn’t see any leaks. I haven’t disconnected airline yet which is going from compressor to valve block to check valve block if its leaking internally (that’s what I read somewhere) but when I disconnected fat rubber hose coming from compressor connected with filter.. I’ve noticed pressure release there. It’s that completely normal? I believe that compressor may be weak but what weak compressor have to do with it I don’t know as compressor only pumping air to valve block which further should hold the pressure in the whole system (?) if someone could correct me that would be great. I’ve bought new rear right strut (as it’s down a bit compared to others) and new valve block as they’re cheap now so I can change them at any time now but i would like to know first what course this invisible leak in the system. My cat don’t know either!! Also noticed that whole 4 struts going down when car is parked for couple of days (valve block?) I’m very confused and so interesting what it is but I will find this bast**d !!😁 I hate and love missions like this..

On Monday my mobile mechanic will be fitting new rear right strut, pump and valve block. Hopefully that’ll help 🤞
