Centering clock spring
So when I did my motor mounts I disconnected my steering shaft and it spun & the result was a broken steering wheel sensor/clock spring.
I found a complete assembly (used) off of ebay, I asked the seller (after it was shipped) if it was centered and he said it is no big deal, has anybody
ever centered the clock spring for installation? I know the new ones come with a lock that's centered but I have never centered a used one before.

It a big deal. Can he guarantee that the clock spring is good? An if not will he pay you the full amount back if its not working? The clock spring need to be center because there is only 2 and half or 3 turns on each side. If its not center you going to have to play with it to find the center point but be real careful. Its not hard at all but take time. Find the starting point where the clock spring line up at on the column. While holding the clock spring in ur hand turn to the left and count how many turns you get before it get tight but be careful not to force the turn. Then try counting back to the right. So if the pin on the clock spring is at 12 clock each full turn is one. So there should be 2 full turns and a half. If not 2 its 3 and a half for each side. Im not at the shop right now. Once the turns are equal on each side you found the center of the clock spring.

I got the part and who ever removed it centered it, thank god.
So after I installed it I had to clear the codes, no problem with my Autel, overall the job is easy.
Just a shame I had to go thru all of this because I did not secure the steering wheel.
