How to remove scrolling wheel on center console control center.
How do I remove the scrolling wheel on the center console command center.
I know there is a screw under the cap but how do I get the chrome/plastic wheel off so I can get at the screw and remove the wheel so I can remove the whole module from the console?

I hate to say this, but if I remember the video correctly, the plastic cap is sacrificial. A punch or other suitable tool is driven through the plastic cap, so that it may be pried off.

Really..??? That's unbelievable. Something I would expect from Chrysler.
I see several used ones for sale on Ebay that still have their control knob in place. Can't imagine they replaced them for the photo 'cause they would have to be removed (destroyed) again to install. But what do I know....that's why I posted the question.

You can take the cap off with a sharp enough tool. It’s possible to reuse it. As far as taking the entire assembly off - the cup holders and ash tray need to come out. Then you remove the phone keypad and take the bolt out holding the panel in place. Then you can remove the entire thing and get to the comand knob assembly from behind.
That’s on my w216 but it should be similar enough.
