Airmatic Malfunction - code 5260
The air ride suspension appeared to be in the full UP position.
I felt like it was in some sort of default mode.
As you can see, I'm at 91,000 miles on my W221.
I could not find the code with my iCarsoft CR Plus OBDII scanner. (Maybe someone better than I could)
I checked the fuses in the engine compartment, driver side, under the hood hinge.
There are 5 (or 6?) screws that you need to remove to open the cover.
Don't forget that the hood can be lifted to the vertical position for better access.
It looks like there are basically 2 fuses and a relay for the air suspension. They seemed OK. You can switch the relay with another relay of the same part number in the same fuse box.
I released some air from the suspension.
I could hear the compressor running to refill.
At this point, I gave up and headed to the dealer. $300 later, it appears the problem was fixed.
Basically, they replaced a wire plug.
The AirMatic suspension appears to be fixed and it goes up and down on command. I'm working from home... so not a lot of driving going on.
Based on looking up the part numbers, it looks like it was a two-wire connector for the pressure release valve.
I have no idea where the valve or connector is located, but it almost has to be near the compressor.
Maybe this information will help someone else in the distant future. If your suspension appears to be stuck in the up position... find that release valve!
