Ride Hight

Can anyone tell me the factory ride height 2008 s550 4Matic? I've been working an air suspension problem and have fixed the leaks and tested all the components but still get an intermittent fault. right now the rear is aprox 28" and the front 27.5 in the down position. My next task is to calibrate and i wanted to make sure im setting the correct ride height.

thx

calibration is supposed to be done with an inclinometer on the suspension arms... plug it in the car jiggles and writes the values....

check all the level sensor link rods are moving freely before you try (they seize and snap off, and a seized one will lead you astray. Front left front right to side to side, one rear does both sides.... then drive is about and recheck... they wander

in comfort about 2 inches between the top of the tyre and the bottom of the wheel arch is normal all round... if u can get within 1/2 inch you'll be doing well.... ABC can be inside 1mm each corner.

all the sensors seem to be working correctly as i can see the changing values as i raise and lower each corner. im in S mode and i have 1 1/2" (top of tire to bottom of wheel arch) on FR FL RL and 1" on RR. Dose that seem correct to you?

there's a post with TIPS document about the RR issue - this might be the issue you have

they damaged the RR pipes building the car and it has a tiny air leak to the pipe with a score the whole length of it. The whole pipe needs to be replaced. But usually you get the leak 2 to 3" from the valve block.

The odd thing is, this is the exact issue on my car but on the left rear.... so did they damage the pipes on all cars on the opposite side to the steering wheel or something else is wrong on mine.....

FYI at 7 years you should just replace all the link rods to all three level sensors as a precaution against breakdown... I thought mine was OK but the rear just snapped clean off and the car collapses to the ground and you can't drive it.... very dangerous and extremely inconvenient...

my issues started with the left rear going down over night. the leak was under the battery tray. im confident its not leaking any more as i can leave it for a week and it doesn't move, i will replace those links as you suggest if they are prone to fail
