2006 S500 - Air Suspension or ABC?
I'm new to the S Class and am now the proud owner of a 2006 W221 S500. I'm interested to know if my car has Airmatic or ABC suspension? Are the two totally different systems?
Currently, my car has an electrical fault due to previously having a flat battery, and I get intermittent ABC fault error messages, amongst others.
Finally, if the two suspension systems are different, in what way?

Congrats on the purchase! If you are getting "ABC fault error messages" you have hydraulic based ABC, totally different from compressed air based Airmatic, much more difficult to maintain and much more expensive to repair. Also is your car 2006 year of production or model year? W221 started with 2007 model year (early cars built in 2006 calendar year).
First have someone with Mercedes DAS (Star) system clear all of your errors. Some may be due to the low battery. Once all errors are cleared, look for new ones and proceed accordingly.

I wish you guys in the States could remember the W221 came out in 2005
it was only the USA that waited 2 years to get it
mine is a very late Nov 2006 build (2007 model year car), but you can see some of the hardware is Aug 2004
