S320 CDI Unlocking and battery problems.Linked?

My S320 does not respond to the key fob, first thing in the morning. I have to unlock with my blade key and once the fob has been in the ignotion, I can open and close numerous times without problem, leave it for an hour and it all starts again, although sometimes it will unlock, but not lock or it will lock and not unlock. Very inconsistent. New battery in Fob from MB and a new car battery. After 7 days the car battery is completely dead and nothing showing on dash. Recharge and 5 days later its dead again. Are the problems linked? is someting happening that I dont know about.. any help suggestions please.

Hi Andy Munn,

From what you have explained, it appears that there may be a parasitic draw on the battery located in the trunk of your vehicle. This battery supplies all on-board consumer electronics, and will drain if a consumer unit is continuously drawing a current from the battery while the vehicle is stationary. You may need to inspect each of the consumer unit's fuses to determine whether or not a particular circuit is drawing excess current and draining the battery.
Best regards,
Christopher

Thanks for that, would this be linked to the key problem or would that be a seperate issue? Thanks again.

One or more control modules may not be shutting down after shutoff causing battery to drain. Or cutout relay located inside power supply control module may be malfunctioning. MB does not offer this part separately but it may be available online once part # is identified. Here are compatible control module part #s to shop if this found to be the problem. Yes, key problem may be linked best to have someone check using MB diagnostics.
