Question Solution for Android Audio?

As much as I'd love to have Android Auto on the display of my 2012 S550, I'm not willing to disassemble the dash and risk the resale value of the car to have it.

I'm content jamming my Pixel 5 in front of the screen, but I'd love to get the audio from it to my car. Obviously, I have phone integration, but I'd love to have everything, including sounds coming from Android Auto and related apps coming through. From my research, it appears Tune2Air could be an option, but is that for music only streaming? What about Bluetooth A2DP adapter for Mercedes-Benz?

I'm open to any ideas provided it doesn't involve major dashboard surgery.

Thanks much,
MB

I was afraid of that. I reached out to the other adapter and they confirmed that their device was only for streaming music as well.

What other options are there? a physical 3.5mm jack in the aux connector?

Thanks,

If you have an aux input that will also be an option, not so sure if the quality will be better, in theory it should, give it a try and if you’re happy that will be it, obviously no song info. The best thing to do in terms of quality of music is to connect an IPod if you have the cable....SD cards would be another one...good luck !

Thanks. I should have been more clear. I've got music covered with a 160G iPod Classic, but I'm interested in hearing the audio from Android Auto, like Map alerts and text messages. Going to try the Aux cable and see how it goes.

I have been using Tune 2Air for years with no problems, and most times the screen displays the content information as well. However, it is music only...

Thumbs up SOLUTION!

I went the AUX port route. On the positive side, it works with all phone sounds, including Maps, Podcasts & DoubleTwist, etc. On the negative side, you can't even select AUX if something is plugged into the iPod cable, so you can't run an iPod concurrently. Also, you have the usual issues with line out audio, including having to crank the volume on your phone and having to deal with a hiss when the phone is disconnected. So not perfect, but it's inexpensive and good enough for me.

Here's the gear that is working well for me:

1)
USB C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter with USB C PD 3.0 Charging Port Type C USB C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter with USB C PD 3.0 Charging Port Type C
- I have a Pixel 5, which unfortunately doesn't have a headphone jack, so this is a requirement for me. Your mileage will likely vary. This splitter is good quality with aluminum housings on the connectors.

2)
Male to Male Audio Cable 3Ft Male to Male Audio Cable 3Ft
- This is a good quality braided cable. I actually went with the six foot, which was a mistake as the excess is coiled up in the glove box. Three feet should be perfect.

3)
Bracketron TekGrip Universal Smartphone Car Window Mount Phone Holder Bracketron TekGrip Universal Smartphone Car Window Mount Phone Holder
(Optional)
- As I mentioned earlier, I have a folio case for my phone, which lends itself well to jamming in the display area, but I opted to get this one, so that I could see the screen when listening to the radio
