Paging Nickthegreek....need some engine mount tips.
So this is my first post here. I’ve been reading for many months and am just now fixing to replace my motor mounts on an 09 s550 4matic. The WIS document from Mercedes calls for removal of a large amount of the front end, however, I have seen a few members, mainly Nickthegreek, commenting that they were able to do it by simply raising the engine and rolling it to the side far enough to get the mount out through the hood. I will not have access to a cherry picker until the weekend, so wondering if a simple engine hoist from harbor freight would do the trick. The issue I would see is being able to “rotate” the engine far enough from side to side to make room without the cherry picker.
Anyway, I’ve found very little info on doing these mounts on a 4matic without the painstaking disassembly of the car. Any tips from anyone who have attempted and completed this would be awesome. I’ve got corteco mounts and new bolts from Mercedes. Thanks to everyone for the invaluable information on this site, praying this solves my vibration headaches once an for all.
