Electric Cooling Fan running for a few min after turning the car off?

Hi guys, just got my 2013 S550 4Matic few weeks back and haven't been driving it much. I drove it yesterday for about an hour and when I parked it in the garage, I heard the fan going for a few min after turning off the car. Now the temperatures here are cold in the teen's so can't say it is warm. Is that normal?? Thanks in advance.

It should run if the underwood temps are high enough, which they probably were. The ambient temperature matters, but really not as much as the type of driving - sitting and idling generates a lot of heat that isn't getting dissipated by air flow, stop and go traffic is similar. Normal highway driving is the easiest on the cooling system, while spirited driving, especially with turbos, creates the most heat that is almost impossible to completely dissipate.

I'd worry a lot more if the cooling fan didn't run at all. I think you are good to go.

Thank you guys! I appreciate it!
Now that I think about it, yes the car was idling for a while before I pulled it in the garage..

And to help your engine use the REST function after you shut it down. This starts a small electric pump that circulates engine coolant and keeps car interior warm until, I guess, coolant temperature is low enough. Circulating coolant helps to eliminate the hot spots inside engine. I wish this was automatic function every time engine is stopped like it was in the Audi Q7 that I had but in my 2013 S550 I have to start it manually.
