So after the 320 CDiL was fully serviced (fluid and filters replaced all around). The garage non Mercedes-Benz, connected a star compatible computer and programmed some stuff and updated the system.

1. Now the knob when switched to parking lights does not function, but it does light everything else on auto or if everything is manually switched on.

2. There is a dedicated button on the center console for the rear windshield blind, which is not functioning, however from thr command system it rolls and from the rear seats as well.

3. Lumbar support is available from the switch on the centre console but 0-10 settings are not inflating the seats anymore.

I did try to fix this by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes as recommended by an MB tech, but that did not reset the system to the way it used to operate. So what may I do now?

no such thing as "update the system on a Merc" multiple modules (up to 62 on a S class) where each one can only be done one at a time.... aside from the entertainment systems

Do you mean they update the "comand"? if so this is a complex lengthy process that is the only area that does more than one individual module update at a time. Usually there 4 separate components to update but can be 6 or 7 depending on toy count. This updating process beams new software round the telematics MOST optical network and each module gets updates one after the other.... BUT it MUST be done with the correct software which the dealer tool informs you which CD to load and sets the car up to programme it specifically for the option fitted on your car

sound like they did a bodge job and the car needs to be updated correctly....

Headlights is an odd one - not heard these play up post update (and a comand update should never impact these) . Is it possible regional setting mandate that feature isn't supposed to there for your market?
Seats could be software muddle, but just as likely pneumatic leaks and modules gave up (because they do)
The Centre console button is in the manual as "favorite"…. you have in vehicle system settings, the choice of about 12 different features it can be set to operate (the usual one is the blind)

Thanks Botus,

This works perfectly,
1. how may I program that extra button?
2. How do I fix software muddle at seat level?

there's another post this weekend with another owner who's had the comand system swapped out and now missing features....

its coding options to enable the menus to control the toys fitted to a given car.... it should be automatic when an update is done inline with Germany saying what to turn back on, for the new component. that's the first step. Then maybe things will work (if they didn't just decide today was end of life). it won't be rocket science to get the menus back, but the right dealer spec tools and a bit of understanding of what they are playing with should get you there.... 30 mins time might sort it. it won't sort the lights (well I doubt it will - would be a very strange thing if it does!)

Thanks again Botus. The seats need to have the module enabled for lumbar support. I'll try it out. Is it worthy to purchase a star system for this sedan? For my Honda cars I have the dealer spec laptop, but it's no where as complex as the star stuff from Mercedes-Benz.

Depends how many Merc's u have / intend to have / intend to play with

if you support 2 Mercs (yours, a mate or a relative) and expect to keep then more than 2 years the right choice is to buy a quality fake unit.... otherwise you will pay someone else the same money and still have multiple bits you want to play with / achieve / do properly !!!

But only if you know what your are doing, can easily cause more damage than help
But don't just ebay any trash.... most is garbage, do some research and go with an established supplier who cares
and use a power supply when playing with software

this forum member added a lot of quality content on one post about updates and sell stuff https://mbworld.org/forums/members/4...benzninja.html

Possibly like mine when the dealer connected the star system they let the voltage drop into the 11s and after that there was issues re the lumbar support / bladder inflation modules. The left hand door control module door lights....
In the MB dealer.....they connect the system and .......tThe car draws 30A and the voltage quickly drops without a full charger on the system they should have known this for this model, but it would appear that they have not worked on a car like yours or that the head tech was on another car or they done have one.

I have just had the rear consumer battery W221 S65 auxilliary battery in the boot behind the rear seat vertical boot panel die. It appears to be a relay as it is not charging After charging the new battery it is now exhibiting the same issue as you with the rear blind..... just wondering if that is an issue when batteries are zeroed for a while and needs some error code clearing...waiting to find that out
