This is my first time replacing a water pump. Being that I'm unfamiliar with what things should look like after the removal of the water pump, I was wondering if it's normal to see oil underneath the water pump?
The old water pump appears to be the original. The car is a 2010 S550 4 matic and has about 88,000 miles. During a recent inspection, I heard the bearing on making noise. Wanting to address the issue before it becomes a problem, I removed the old water pump. This was when I noticed the small trace of oil (picture below).
My question to you other S-class owners is, is it normal to see oil underneath the water pump?
My vehicle does not have any flashing indicators.
on the dash, nor does the vehicle overheat while idleing( for 40 min). The vehicle exhibits no other symptoms whereas I got nervous when I saw the oil....Please advise.
