Navigation malfunction
You should be able to toggle the display to show GPS coordinates (rather than time of arrival it may be on if you had the major update - giving traffic info and 3d mapping - AKA Bird's Eye view) if these are gibberish it might be a dead GPS antenna
If you have silly glass (pink IR tint) it will be more fun , but the std screen still has a blank space at the bottom middle of the front screen to retrofit nav antenna on budget ones... you can buy a flee bay £15 dollar one and plug it in and bury under the dash
its a hell of a job to reach - think 6hrs labour and lots of money for the part and the roof lining will likely be trashed in to the bargain....
what I said was to retrofit (or in your case repair) u might want to try a cheap one under the dash

These cars are chock full of electronics and some will fail simply because of the harsh conditions they're subject to. Having them last 10 years is a win in my book, and not indicative of any design issues. Yes, Mercedes makes mistakes, like any other car manufacturer, but if anything, these cars are built way better than your average car, and way more complex.
In this case I would check the antenna amplifier which should be in the trunk.
can't beat them join them approach
aka lease it and you'll be OK (but the planet won't be)
This constant negativity, while entertaining, is counter productive. Why bother with a car that you feel so strongly about
