lol, forgive my lack of knowing the name but what is this part called (circled in red)? The piston is under it but what is this part or is this actually part of the piston??
The rear amg brakes don't have it, but the fronts do.
is it the brake piston but with some odd idea to get air flow ?

calliper body
piston seal
dust seal
piston
bleed nipple + dust cover
pad
pad retaining bit
shouldn't be much else - you can have nasty split callipers with the bolts that hold it together of course and a seal between the parts... or single sided sliding garbage and the associated rot to let that happen (or on the back some form of park brake)

This part looks like it sits inside of the piston separately, whatever it is.
I believe they are bellows. Searching 0014210986 only shows seals but if you search ebay for caliber 0034205383 or 5483 some aftermarket kits will show bellows.

Better pics so it's easier to see them. Not really finding much but as you can see they are only included on the front calipers, not the rears. Could be called "brake friction plates" based on this diagram but don't find much on those either.
I was going to order new ones so I didn't have to spend the time taping each individual one of them on every caliper to paint them.
