No Aux in Comand, but hardware installed
In the glovebox, I have:
- the 3 aux jacks. I've tried using the proper cable to the 3.5.
- a 30-pin connector with a CoolStream bluetooth attached. It has a light which is on (and I've paired with it successfully), so it must be connected.
But there's simply no 'Aux' to select in Comand, I've looked everywhere. I've tried selecting instead MP3, CD, DVD, but it just says they're all empty.
I've read the manual, scoured forums, but nobody seems to have this same issue.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
it should be from selecting AUDIO, press comand knob to display menu and drop down to
Radio (FM, AM, LW, SW... but to select a different tuner - its another menu down to the bottom right )
Sirus (or DAB in Europe)
CD
DVD
MP3
Aux
it can be turned off (or on with dealer tools) its an optional menu - turned on where aux inputs exist (although you can enable and have the menu with nothing there to connect to and nothing is amiss)
It's not just the AUX, it's other functionality including the back-up cam, and seat massage controls. NAV also thinks I'm 400km away from where I am. Every once in a while COMAND turns off and restarts.
Took it to the dealer, they can't get the COMAND update disc as it's discontinued, tried an incorrect disc to no avail, and provided no other solutions (not a lot of faith in these guys based on experience).
Called to Mercedes Canada (beer league customer service centre), she suggested I sell the car and get a different one where everything works. Thanks Mercedes.
So the only things I can think to do:
- reverse engineer the issue. How could this have happened? I've checked and reseated all relevant fuses.
- anyone know the part number for the disc in hopes I can find one on ebay? The update, not the NAV telemetrics.
- swap the disc unit which contains the firmware ($$$).
Thanks in advance for your help.

. Typical Mercedes BS. You need access to Xentry to diagnose what’s going on. There are many different firmwares for these units and you should check which one you need in order to reflash/update. Fortunately not everyone stores/orders CDs like the idiotic Mercedes dealers. Some people store stuff digitally. Imagine that. Some people can even share firmware online with others that need it. Crazy futuristic stuff right there.
I feel sorry for the latest Mercedes models that are loaded with even more tech. 7 years from now they’ll be the biggest money pits ever when all the individual modules start failing because of poor solder jobs, coding and other typical planned obsolescence crap. You might not even be able to open the door cause the motor that pops the door handle might not be manufactured anymore.

QUOTE=I Am Jacks Merc;8830259]Thanks for the help. Situation ended up getting resolved by replacing the COMAND unit with one from the wreckers ($200 CAD). There's a couple little glitchy things left, which I understand is due to the VCM not being programmed to the new COMAND. AUX is back , back-up camera is back, and it doesn't reset itself anymore.[/QUOTE]
