After months of chasing an annoying rattle that occurs when RPM drops from 1200 to 800 has been fixed. I’ve been to numerous muffler shops, indys and even the stealership and was told everything from the timing chain was loose to the cats needed to be replaced to I’d just need to live with it.
Found a random shop offering just off a gut feeling driving by and the tech was invested in actually chasing the noise. After a few minutes with iron the lift and revving, we found it!
It ended up being the drivers side exhaust tip. One spot weld and rattle is absolutely gone!!
So, the dealer wasn't able to find it, hm....from a timing chain to a weld spot....
Nope! Surprisingly enough the stealership didn’t quote me for the timing chain it was an indy ( their reviews were crap which I should’ve checked out first). The stealership said “just live with it” as, according to them, “there were no visible signs or diagnostic codes…”
Yup! Now if I ever get this seized pulsation dampener off the ABC pump This Beast will finally have a fighting chance in the quietness competition with my LS430. My dream is to be under 60 decibel while doing 90+ mph. The LS is in the low 50’s at that speed.
