12v socket from the glove box. where to take positive and negative????

Hello partners. I am placing the 12v socket in the glove box and my question is where do I have to give it positive and negative? does it have to be from the lighter??? or is there any point closer. I have seen the fuse box that is right next to the glove box and I have also seen a chassis negative and there I can put the negative of the 12v socket but where do I get the positive from? thank you I appreciate your help. a greeting.

Isn't there already a socket in the glove box? I guess I don't understand.

Have you tried using a voltmeter to test the wires that you are attempting to connect to?

Hello

Hello thanks for the answer and the help much appreciated. in the end I managed to put the 12V socket. I took the positive and negative from the cigarette lighter socket in the center console and it works perfectly. I removed the glove box and I took out the COMAND and I also took out the compartment of the cigarette lighter and pass the cables as if it were the original installation, it has been great. Take advantage since I had everything disassembled and install the Auxiliary RCA video input with its original cable bought in Mercedes and connect the loose pins to the 20-pin black COMAND plug, each pin in its place, cover all the wiring with black cloth tape and it's like the factory, I downloaded the computer, connect XENTRY / DAS, encode and that's it. And it works perfect. now I have the glove box a little more equipped. before there was nothing just the empty glove compartment. now i am carrying the original ipod interface for our w221 i got it on ebay at a great price with a 40gb ipod full of music i also put the ORIGINAL IPOD holder from mercedes and there i have the ipod. It looks great and today I have finished with the VIDEO RCA auxiliary installation and the 12V socket, both also bought on EBAY. all original Mercedes and for our w221. Finally, thank you very much. Greetings.

The other cigarette lighter is your best bet.

There are many “closer” points you could tap but you might run into issues. A lot of them are monitored by the SAM in terms of current draw and it will shut them down if they’re drawing too much power.

The other issue is that they might not turn off when the car is off or even prevent the car from going to sleep properly.
