MP3 No Playback

Hello there gentlemen. I've searched the forum, checked all the threads, but my problem seems to be unique. Trying to make my lovely recently acquired S350 to playback mp3 files, with no luck. The car came with one of those gray PCMCIA to SD connectors, and original owner been able to listen mp3. Sadly he took his SD card with him.
I've tried:
- really old 2GB (not HC) card
- new 32 GB HC card
- various bitrate 128-320
- Fat/Fat32
- clearing id3 tags
- putting files to root/folders/subfolders
- formatting with the tool taken from SD official site
no luck.
The car see's the folders structure, navigates through the folders fine, it see's mp3 files (with both cards), but kinda "freezes" when I try to run a file. No playback occurs.
Strange thing noticed, when I've inserted the card (2 GB non HC) for the veeery first time, it actually started to playback the song, but then stuck when I've attempted to pick the next one. And since then, no sound ever came out.
Please share your wisdom, I wanna hear Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd just like gentlemen from the other thread do.

r u sure they are MP3? the was an update to allow later wma format to be supported - but that would be on any late 2008 car or any that was updated

the adapter is important some don't behave

what age is the car ? later units didn't get the pcmcia slot

in the SAT NAV menus hunt about to see if you can find this Bird's Eye option !!!

if you don''t have this - then it will explain why you have issues playing files (in general) and can't play WMA - the update you'd be missing is a massive upgrade - if you are old school and still use things without some nasty overheating phone falling off the dash, you might like the traffic message features that gives a clue about holds up in front...

if missing that update - you'll want to fix the clock with yet another update - but that one you can do at home
