Android system + 360° surround view
Hey guys,
I am planning to modernize my 2011 W221 (NTG 3.5). I'm a big fan of wireless carplay.
I actually only use Apple Music and Google Maps via carplay. In return, I expect the system to start up quickly and my iPhone to be quickly connected to via carplay.
There are carplay boxes, but an Android system makes more sense to me.
The installation effort is almost identical, the price difference is not that big and an Android system offers a larger screen size and a high-resolution display compared to the OEM screen.
However, there is not that much choice of Android systems for the W221. In particular, I can't find any well-known manufacturers. My favorite right now, based on the hardware, is this system.
What do you think of the system? Do you have alternatives ready?
8GB Ram sounds good, but the CPU is probably no longer the latest and best.
In connection with the Android system, I am considering installing a 360° surround view system. It makes parking and leaving a parking space much easier and the reversing camera should also offer a higher resolution compared to the OEM reversing camera.
There doesn't appear to be any bespoke camera systems for the W221. That's why I have this camera set on my wish list.
