it doesn't support ANY phone aside from a Merc dumb handset in the rear arm rest....
in the centre console there is either a phone base to click certain handsets in, or just a funny little plug socket - into this UHI you can plug three different devices that can get you Bluetooth connections to a phone for calls ONLY - it can't stream music
many call the usual one a Merc puck - 4 models, newer is more likely to work well ($300 new of $100 on ebay - ought to be 25 for an early one where the phone book likely to be strange on later modern phones)
an SAP set up mk1 to mk3 you don't want any - don't work with apple
viseeo MB3, 4 or 4+ need to set dip switches to NTG4 or they don't work correctly in the 221 - they ALL have firmware updates to support siri silliness
MB nor MB dealerships would know anything about anything..
the car only does BT to its own rear BT phone system - YES you can TRY and connect to it but it will not operate correctly - I forget which, I think the mike doesn't work - so you see and hear it ring, you answer and assume no one is there, and they listen as you say nice things about them !!!!
of course the alternatives work - or I wouldn't have mentioned it - but if you have the option pink tinge IR heat reflecting glass, it will steal two bars of signal strength - the plugged in system uses a better external antenna - but that's history if you want BT
My iPhone 14 works just fine in my 07 S600, 08 CL63 and my 08 S65. It's two way, pairing that needs to be incorporated into the process. You need to sync your phone in addition to the Bluetooth dongle (if you're in the states the dongles code is MBUSA). Also, the if the voice command module in the trunk (near drivers rear wheel) is shot they won't hear you. Thats an easy fix. Plenty of modules are on Ebay for less that $75. Peel the trunk liner back, replace, reassemble. It'll take thirty minutes if you don't know what you're doing, twenty five if you've done it before.
a standard European car with NTG3.0 headunit can not do BT calls without an extra device plugged in the UHI socket (or some nasty cut and splice bodge up behind the stereo)

that's great info thank you , the issue that happened is the car is equipped with Bluetooth, it pairs up and sees and Iphone 12
but doesn't work, MB told me either get an older iphone or a newer car will the alternative you mentioned work?
LOL! Since you have a newer phone, you just need a newer Mercedes. Hey, there just happens to be one on the lot!
Bluetooth is Bluetooth. An older phone will do the same thing as a newer phone. My S550 didn't come with the Bluetooth Interface either but I bought one on eBay for like $100 or so. I like the fact that the car is more complete now but I don't really like using it. "I'm driving, call you later."
