Michelin Vs. Continental Tires

Hello Everyone,

The tires on my vehicle have worn out and I've been looking for replacement options. I have narrowed the choice down to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 and Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus. Does anyone have these tires and what do you think of them. I care about the tires being great in the dry and wet while still being comfortable and quiet. Hoping to get at least 30,000 miles out of them as well. Out of these two options, which fit these criteria better?

Thank You

its just like the cars

Continental, competent, slightly unrefined tyre, not the best, purely designed to abuse autobahns at stupid speeds (German tyre)
Michelin, a more competent tyre all round, that gives slightly better refinement and better steering feel (French tyre)
Goodyear, vastly superior tyre to either of those, better overall handling and safety. With significant improvement in comfort and refinement, (the trade off is a slightly less crisp steering feel, but it adds the ability to go past 10 10th and stays with you, where Michelin puts in in a ditch without warning). Always wins tyre test, but most customers "know better" (by grown ups)

Continental DWS have been my go to tire for many years. It is not even a debate for me...I've had such good luck with them, and they do everything pretty well imho. They are even pretty good in snow...most all season tires mean all season in like Alabama, but these are legit pretty decent in snow.

I have only used the Michelin Pilot Sport series and now have PS/3 on the rears and PS/4 on the front. Great tires.

Depends on the weather
Michelin AS3 and now Michelin AS4's. Smooth, comfortable and great grip.

your choices are rather interesting - all season tyres we don't get over in europe - they have moved all the idiots to summer only all year and more sensible one do summer in summer and legally mandated winter tyre in cold damp weather...
here you go link to an incredible tyre review site

Let me start off by prefacing that I’m your dual set of wheels kind of guy. I like my summer set up and a winter set to take the northeast salt and snow abuse. I was in your situation 3 months ago deciding on all seasons and it all came down to the dilemma. I read plenty of reviews, articles and comparisons. I figured the Continentals were overall the best choice for me. So far, they have met every expectation in various driving conditions with the exception of snow. I like them, these truly are a Great set of AS tires!

I have used the Conti DWS 06 tire for years. They do shockingly well in the snow. Had a lot of fun doing that. They are also excellent in rain and do just fine as a real performance tire being a savage. I never got more then 22,000 out of a pair of them. Not any fault of the tire.

They are quiet until worn out. Even though I don’t see snow anymore I’m considering them to replace what is on my current steed.

I have pilot as3. great grip wet or dry. Only thing is I blew out 3 tires on once year due to pot holes, and I try to watch every bump.

I have had a lot of problems with potholes also. The low profile doesn't leave a lot of rubber between the pavement and the wheel. The only way I have been able to survive pothole hell is to pump up the pressures to 38 front and 40 rear. But I am not sure whether a change in tire manufacturer would help.

I got into habit of having spare tires in the basement in case I need it.

I have had both tires on my 2013 4-matic. My experience basically mirrors what's been stated above.

My most recent set of Continentals lasted just over 30,000 miles, so I got back money when they were replaced under the 40,000 mile warranty. I would have stayed with them, but they weren't available from any retailer and Continental could not provide any of them an ETA. So i switched to the Michelins, which were more expensive but do seem to have a quiter ride.

As with others, I keep my tires inflated between 38 and 40 psi to help reduce the number of wheels I have to replace. The Continentals were much better in this regard than the Yokohamas that came from the dealership. I haven't had the Michelin long enough to know if there is any difference.

I have had both tires on my 2010 S550 4Matic. I had previously been a diehard Michelin customer. I found them to be noisy on this car and not as "sporty".
I switched back to the DWS06. They were quieter and a bit firmer.
I got more than 50,000 miles on the Michelin and more than 70,000 on the Continentals.
