2012 S550 M278 Exhaust Valves Open

Hello,

I was interested in opening my exhaust valves on my 2012 S550 with the 4.7L Biturbo M278 engine. I see that Renntech makes a module but it is not compatible with w221 cars. Anyone know another way of opening the valves via remote? If not, I guess I will have to use some hose clamps and open them manually.

Thanks.

.... the whole idea of what he manu did and how successfully it makes the car drive was not a guess - they literally spent more than 2 years on it and did over a million miles

they put this much effort even on a 35k focus, let alone a 140k S class (which will have got even further dev as that is renowned by many as the best car in the world...) the idea a nasty little bodge up by a 5 year old could successfully improve the car, is ludicrous

in the right situation, the right induction noise and a great exhaust note is "fun", done badly, it ruins an entire car for evermore... and they should have landed the former already

trying to create joke sounds, is one reason they now add on most stuff to background rot played back via the stereo - so grown ups can turn it off an enjoy life with a car that drives well in a variety of variable conditions ... modifying the car usually has detrimental effects - after all if you drive fast you'll not hear the noise, you'll just irritate the very people you are hoping to not disturb... or next time they'll have got a speed cameras placed and you have to drive slower anyway

it would be far more sensible to spend a bit of money on petrol and use the pedal to go fast - than to spend lots ruining the car - a massive amount of the manu developed is around how it drives under lots of different conditions - the shape of the power curve is what matters not the highest number - this doesn't happen by chance - much of it comes from hard to fathom design of the intake and exhaust - if you ride bikes, its why Honda's have a great reputation, beautiful development of power and torque all the time whatever the conditions - whereas a Ducati sits getting polished in the shed - because they are just so awful to actually use

.

And that is exactly why I want to open and close the stock mufflers via remote. It gives you a little more sound when wanted and makes it stock when cruising.

It’s exactly what the manufacturers are doing today with integrating an exhaust button on the center console.

Anyway, I am looking on ways how to do it, not why I should or shouldn’t.

I just watched a few 10 /15 year old TopGear episodes...

last week it had Rowan Atkinson on, talking about his car racing and love of all things cars... he then did at the time, the fastest ever lap of the track in the gutless wreck all guests drive...

a week later Matt Le Blanc was a guest - they got talking about modifying cars. Clarkson was on the same page as me - they make them better than any kid at home could ever hope to get them to behave - so why fiddle about making them worse / or mostly just ruining them. And Le Blank chipped back in, that in America people have a need to modify their cars to show the world its their car not something anyone has. So its something in the American psyche means they need to put their stamp on it ...anyway he then did a lap and it looked pretty decent turns out he spent much of the day consistently landing the lap time Rowan had, and then last attempt snagged 0.1 seconds off to be the fastest ever guest.

Later for 2 years he was one of the UK presenters... and did a fair bit on bikes (that the show never bothers about)

I didn't think/even know the W221 had valves. But in that case, I'd like to mod for manual control too!
