2009 S600 Boost Box Voltage Transformer/Ignition Control Unit

Hello, I just purchased the Boost Box, aka Voltage Transformer, and Ignition Control Unit, from Clark Rupp at https://www.v12icpack.com/, for my 2009 S600.

It arrived with about an 18” cable.

The idea is to mount the Boost Box anywhere but on top of the engine where it can get heat soaked, causing early death.

I thought about tie wrapping it to the back of the Distronic radar transmitter in front of the radiator?
Bad for moisture and sub zero temperatures?

Is a good place for the Boost Box anywhere near the front of the engine bay as long as it’s not on top of the motor?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Johnny

rain and salt at the front - there maybe a lot of room behind the engine... where the battery goes, below the windscreen, is a big across the width of the car trough of not very much... cool and far dryer than the front of the vehicle... BUT ensure the wiper arms don't get anywhere close to the box or its wiring when they are operating

I also bought Clark's Boost Box and it was mounted on the firewall just in front of the windscreen motors. I have also been told there is enough cable to mount it near the starter battery. Let us know how you decide to do it and your impression of the new VT. I also have the OEM VT and the less recent version of Clark's upgraded VT with better capacitors.

I personally found the Boost Box more sensitive to coil pack errors than the upgraded older VT. But this could just be my experience.

I have all of Clark's products in my S600 and they are substantially better than the OEM stuff. My S600 runs really well.

Thanks guys.
I'll look to get it mounted near the rear firewall later in the week.
I have both sides reworked coil/packs installed along with 24 new iridium plugs and the new VT boost box should be the icing on the cake.

Will get back with a full report.

Boost Box tie wrapped to Master Cylinder.

Heat wrapped cable into engine bay.

Completed the install of the new Boost Box today from Clark Rupp: https://www.v12icpack.com/

Mounted to the firewall, tie wrapped to the base of the windshield wiper motor. Windshield wiper armatures were very far away from Boost Box when operating windshield wipers. Heat wrapped the cable going into the engine bay. Car runs better? At least I feel better knowing the fused Boost Box won’t take out my new CPs.
