Active Lane Keep Assist with Distronic Plus
Hey all,
In the market for a W221 and this is one of my last questions to be figured out before making a purchase.
Was active lane keep assist ever an option on the W221? By active I mean it has a servo that can physically turn the wheel to keep the vehicle centered in the lanes.
If this does exist, what would I look for to know if a W221 has it?
What would I look for to determine if the car has Distronic Plus?

This lane keep in my car is not a servo doing steering. It is made by applying front brake to pull car back in the lane. Later car models may/probably have active steering that actually steers the car to keep it in the traveling lane.
It is easy to find if the car has Distronic. The front grille has a square middle part that has "painted" lines to match the slats in the grille or if it has round big star it has solid cover on it. Opening the hood will reveal the Distronic radar sensor. It is right in the open in the middle of the radiator when hood is up.

only the very last ones got it - I guess they had it ready for the 222 and it landed on the last high end 221s
earlier ones don't get it - and of course ONLY cars that have the rare option of Distronic Plus (active cruise control)
use a chassis decode tool and check for
238 - ACTIVE LANE KEEPING ASSIST (FAP)

I think the next gen Distronic Plus with Active Steering Assist debuted on the W222 in 2014 (and was available in the facelifted W212 in the same year and also the W205 around 2015).

its warning only from 2011 see page 354 and a stab on a brake in the hope its keeps it in lane
