was looking to get a
W221 5.5 s500 v8 Gtronic
what’s the verdict on these? milage an issue saw some around 100k miles for around £11k
issues to look out for?

they all had the Mercedes 7g box - unless its the v12 (which produced too much torque) and just breaks the 5 speed one instead.
they are quite fragile and don't change well - if u have evidence its has 2 trans fluid changes already then take a punt - but expect the car in general to make money vanish
100k miles ISM fails $2k
between 70 to 110k miles the Electroplate fails $1800
140k miles the torque converter lock up clutch fails - box out new tc $3000 for a bodge up or $5k if you rebuild the lot
if never had any fluid changes it just runs on luck and swarf - awaiting $6K rebuild including replacing all the solenoids
