Auxillary battery and bracket orientation
I am trying to replace the underdash auxillary battery and am having difficulty determining the orientation of the bracket/battery. I blindly removed the unit without paying attention to the orientation and now am having a difficult time reinstalling. It mounts with one bolt but I can't seem to figure out which way it is oriented to line up with that bolt. Any assistance is greatly welcomed.

Note also that a silver box (gateway) clips to this bracket. Yours could be hanging by its wiring as mine was
WIS has you attack this job removing the paneling over floor under dash. An alternate method is to remove screws securing fuse box to left, moving it out of way and addressing the bracket and battery from there. This could help you find the threaded insert you're looking for.
When I did mine i couldn't get the screw to thread, so i temporarily used a longer one and then vice grips to squeeze the bracket to the substructure. then removed temporary longer screw and fitted correct screw.
CL550/C216 is same as W221 ... it's the 2-door S-Class!
