S550 w221 big brake upgrade

  • Hey I am currently a new member to this forum. I have a 2010 w221 s550. Just wondering if any one knows anyone selling the s600 (w221) front and rear euro spec calipers. Not too sure if I wanna go with the e 55 Amg front and rear caliper set up as it is more accessible to find but I don’t like the rear 4 pistons that come with the e55.

I use FCP Euro for the parts on my S600 except for the ceramic pads which I get from Hawk Pads. FCP has a lifetime warranty. Hawk has the best pads on my SRT8 and Corvette, so I tried them on the S600 and they were very good. Disc rotors were from Brembo. Calipers were OEM Mercedes.

Which Hawk pads do you like? HPS 5.0 or something else?

My personal preference is Hawk Yellow 5.0 ceramic. I have had very few problems with dust, the stopping distances are improved, and I am happy with the results. Some have complained about noise but my experience has been good. The S65 which is a step up from my car uses a dual caliper system up front but that is too much complexity for me. My S600 uses 4 piston fronts and two piston rear calipers which is pretty low tech but very good driving.
