Audio Button Sometimes Does Not Power On Audio System On
Hello All,
I have a 2008 W221 that I bought new and have just barely put 100k miles on it, and has pretty much been trouble free. It's not my daily driver, but something odd happens intermittently. Once in a while, the audio system will stop working, and pressing the on button to turn it back on does not work, however, when I turn the car off and then start it again, the audio system comes back on. This has only happened a few times, however this is my 3rd S Class, and I learned awhile back to pay attention to the little things before they become a major problem.
I would truly appreciate any suggestions or feedback.

mileage has almost nothing to do with faults on cars made since 1995 it is almost entirely designed in faults that appear like clockwork once we are past the litigation timelines in play within certain markets. The germans are particularly adept and managing this. From 1995 where their initial development was a little obvious leading to class action lawsuits, they since spend vastly more money on intensive research and development on their mission to destroy civilisation. And have since changed tack. With later cars now built with multiple failure modes on every component, so its far harder to pin them down.
with so many 'issues' possible why not search the thousands of posts everyone else uses to discuss such problems - it would likely inform you of the sort of faults it can have and thus help you better explain the specific issues you see on your car and which diagnotics tools you have used to help pin point the faults
the sort of issues we see
sometimes the display and menus mostly seem OK but there is no sound anywhere... the AMP in the boot dies
the mercedes logo comes on then it crashes off in an ongoing loop... in the boot the linguatronic module, the Sirius tuner or the DAB tuner can die, with any able to take down the most loop
it seems to work but its flaky... any of the above
the display does remains blank and there is no sound (as if entirely dead).. might be a cooling issues but more likely on the 221 the hard drive aging

Thanks for the feedback, I actually did try to search the topic that I presented prior to asking about it, and even took the car to an audio specialist that I know who was also stumped. That being said, I'll just live with the issue until whatever the problem is requires me to go to the dealer. Thanks for taking the time to respond, much appreciated 👍

not a bad idea - the car won't let you down, everything will work except the in car entertainment... so it won't breakdown or be unsafe to use - but yes its frustrating, modern cars are so complex, only high level diagnostic equipment gives you any clue where to head..
forums are good, but most stuff is becoming so electronically interesting its a mine field - add in today's software that was never really checked, just released for the masses to be the guinea pigs and its heading towards super experts and dealer tools to uncover whats happening
