Don't know. When my 275 spat a main shell into the chains for bent valves I replaced the engine with a low miles used example that ran well for the remainder of my time with the car.

Short answer... It has to be tight enough to clamp the bearing shells in place. There are no locating tangs on the block or the bearings.

Did it spin a main bearing?

If so.... which one?

I want to pick up crank bearing from another car, because the original ones are not on sale. hole tolerances are needed, from the 272 motor the liner is very similar
