2008 S550 4matid rear suspension air line leaking

Hello, I am having an issue with a leaking passenger side rear air line, the air line is leaking directly under the battery tray as it goes into the body and then back to the passenger side strut. I removed the battery and battery tray and found that the air line is leaking as it goes into the bottom (body) so I assume it rubbed a hole in the line and there is really no slack to pull up on it to repair. I can't tell how to access it under the car to repair. Do I have to get this on a lift and then drop the underneath body panels to see where it goes from under the battery tray to the back of the car? Trying to do this myself without getting a bill from MB or an Indy shop. Anyone ever replace one of the rear air lines that has any insight?

Thanks Bill

its well worth owners checking the sticky threads at the top of the forum... one from Konigstiger re common issues - right rear air line fitted wrong on early cars whole line needs replacing

I've searched the stickies and unable to find that post. Can anyone copy and past that sticky in this thread so I can start to get this issue resolved. Had to put the car on the back burner until recently and want to try to get it done. Thanks Bill

with many of these its the principle rather than the ones they have noticed after customers complain...

like chocolate idlers many outside the range - the idea was from the look of it deliberate chocolate componentry used. and this scored pipe was obviously untrained slaves building their flagship cars...

Thanks for the reply. I found where the leak is but cannot get at it because of where it is. so I want to replace the line from inside under the passenger side carpet and pull a new air line from inside to where it comes out under the battery tray. Do I have to remove the seat and center console to get the carpet up and out of the way to find them? One section of carpet pulled up revealing an aluminum plate bolted down but when I removed that I didn't find the air lines, not sure if they are behind the kick panel at this point either.

I had the same problem, and luckily the leak was just before entering the cabin from the hood, underneath the starter battery. I used a quick-press connector. I spoke with a Mercedes mechanic, and he told me that in these cases, if it’s not possible to access the tubing, the line is redone from scratch, running through the cabin and then exiting again under the starter battery.
