w221 window guide seal rubber replacement
Today i replaced the window guide rubber on the front left door.
I basically did the same as this video (of a c-class) shows:
Tools needed:
- Plastic spudger(s)
- Torx T10 with thin stem (don't use 1/4" bits, use a real "screwdriver")
- Torx T20 with thin stem (don't use 1/4" bits, use a real "screwdriver")
- Soapy water
Lower the window
Remove the door tweeter triangle thing
Then loosen the mirror (3 Torx T20 screws)
Now just like in the video, while standing between the door and the car, start pulling the rubber out of the B pillar and pull out toward the front of the car.
Remove the 2 T10 screws that hold the outside metal B-pillar trim. Be careful not to damage the metal trim.
Try to slide the metal B-pillar trim out. Don't force it. Pull more rubber window guide first if you need to.
Now you can pull all of the rubber out.

Notes on installing the new seal:
Partnumber A2217253525 (for my 2006 W221)
Use lots of soapy water for all these steps, on the rubber and on the door, especially if it's warm.
The seal on the W221 is different from the one in the video, it does not have the extra piece above the mirror base. Does not matter much for the installation.
The hardest part is to stick the long end of the rubber on the A-pillar side inside the door between the glass and the door.
I used lots and lots of soapy water there. It helps if you can get the rubber in very vertically. Other stuff is in the way, but try to get it as vertical as possible and pay attention to what part of the rubber goes in front of the glass and what parts go behind the glass.
