Purge Valve/Solenoid P0455
So I have been getting an intermittent CEL code P0455 and there is no impact on how the car drives. I tapped on what I thought was the purge valve and believe it or not, when I restarted the car; the CEL went out. Of course, about five miles down the road, the CEL lit up again. Any other V12 W221 guys had this?

Is the gas cap tight and/or needing replacement with an OEM cap? How many miles on the car and is it difficult to start? Just asking the normal questions as I'm sure you've done your homework.

Gas cap replaced with an OEM last year, 98K miles, runs really well, no misses, no slow starts, no problems. Just an intermittent code although more frequent recently in the really hot weather. No smell of fuel, Needs a purge valve!! Hope to get to it this weekend.

Years ago, my wife had a 1976 Audi 4000. It was a nightmare. Everything broke from A/C relay to windshield washer. I simply could not get the washer to work no matter what I did. I finally gave up and bought her a plastic squeeze bottle with a long hooked nozzle typically used to water hanging plants. I told her to open the window, and squeeze water on her windshield and turn on the wipers.
Maybe I can get a long piece of wire to string through the firewall to tap on the valve.....
I suppose I am polluting the environment with a bad purge valve, but the car runs really well and I am tempted to ignore it.
