Bluetooth Music
Hi. Just got another S. My 2012 S550 won’t let me select Bluetooth to play music. My phone is paired and authorized. I can see it under “Telephone” on command screen. In audio there is no choice for a Bluetooth input. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS. I remember being able to search within each body style. I can’t seem to find it. Sorry.

never had it - a dodgy box of merc tricks can plug in the socket in the glove box - but it was always odd
these days go aftermarket and get android auto and carplay - u get a box, it sits under the comand and a long press of one button flips to the new world (or back)

I installed one like BOTUS said last week (2009 s600) and it works really well. it retains all original command abilities, and can switch to car play etc by long pressing the nav button, and in car play, your steering wheel control, command wheel etc all works intuitively. It's super easy to install, but a bit hard to stuff all those extra cable and the box itself behind the original head unit, but still definitely doable. I got the ztuz one from aliexpress for about $150 shipped.

It was 2014 and the introduction of the iphone 6 with wireless earbuds that Apple equipment was first able to broadcast music via Bluetooth. Consequently your 2012 was not equipped to receive it.
Telephones were equipped in the mid two thousand zeros to broadcast telephony data, voice, audio, phone book. This is all you have on your 2012.
Your solution is an aftermarket Bluetooth receiver that plugs into aux input in glove box. It's pretty likely once uux input is selected via COMAND, the only display will be in speedo using steering wheel buttons.
